Android and the Open Handset Alliance have received the Emerging Technologies Award for Wireless Week's 11th Annual Excellence Awards Program. The award was announced in the April 1st issue of Wireless Week and was presented at CTIA Wireless 2008 in Las Vegas.
The awards program is designed to recognize exemplary achievement in wireless and is based on nominations submitted by Wireless Week editors and writers. According to the publication: "Android's potential promises openness and innovation, perhaps changing not only the mobile Internet but the Internet itself."

Leading mobile players demonstrate early look of Android at Mobile World Congress 2008. See how Android is now available on many different mobile hardware platforms.
In a show of broad momentum behind Android, members of the Open Handset Alliance™ and several other companies will be showing early look implementations of the platform on various reference hardware in Barcelona. These firms ported the same software onto different hardware with little to no modifications of the core stack, highlighting the strong early interest that Android has generated and the portability of its design.

- Marvell Semiconductor, Inc.
- Marvell is demonstrating the Android Mobile Phone Platform running on its high performance, low power ARM-based integrated 3G communications processor, delivering cutting-edge productivity and entertainment applications and Web 2.0 services.
- Qualcomm Inc.
- Come see how Android takes full advantage of the Qualcomm MSM7201A's capabilities - integrated ARM11-based application processor, high-speed HSDPA/HSUPA wireless connectivity, blazing fast WVGA video performance and stunning 2D & 3D graphics acceleration.
- Texas Instruments
- TI will be showing two exciting demonstrations of Android on:
- OMAP850 - an integrated single chip modem + applications processor, along with TI’s WiLink™ and BlueLink™ solutions, on a live prototype handset
- OMAP3430 - TI's flagship applications processor
- Wind River
- In Wind River's stand - Hall 2, Booth #2H72 - Wind River and Wind River Linux Commercialization Services are demonstrating the base Android platform and native integration with the Texas Instruments OMAP3430 chipset in an exciting, new form-factor development platform called the Zoom Mobile Development Kit.
